The faculty of Biology and animal Breeding Of the University of nature management (WBHZ-wrocław) is one of the 5 faculties of the University of natural Sciences in wrocław, founded in 1951 as the Faculty of Zootechniczny of the then Higher Agricultural School in wrocław.

The faculty of Biology and animal Breeding Of the University of nature management (WBHZ-wrocław) is one of the 5 faculties of the University of natural Sciences in wrocław, founded in 1951 as the Faculty of Zootechniczny of the then Higher Agricultural School in wrocław.  Teaches students in four main areas related to the field of agricultural Sciences, full-time and part-time.

The Department of biology and animal husbandry is an interdisciplinary unit. It includes 2 institutes, 3 cathedrals and 1 scientific laboratory. In addition, the faculty includes: the EU departmental project service Bureau and the nature Museum.

Currently, there are 73 teachers, including 18 professors with the title of Professor, 22 doctors of science, including 15 working for the position of extraordinary Professor and 33 employees, scientific and pedagogical with a higher education doctor. In the codification of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, from the point of view of scientific activity, the Department of Biology and animal Breeding of the University of natural Sciences in Wroclaw is considered one of the divisions of the first category[4]. The composition is also a group of associate professors. The faculty also cooperates with honorary professors, whom the government supports both the educational process and, above all, the exchange of international

 

History

The faculty of biology and animal husbandry of the University of nature in Wroclaw is one of the oldest divisions of this type operating in the Wroclaw agricultural University. Its building was created in 1950 By the Institute of Breeding, operating within the University and the Polytechnic University of Wroclaw. It was in the same year transformed Into the Institute of animal Husbandry[6].

Along with the separation from the structure of the University and the Polytechnic University of Wroclaw in 1951, the Higher Agricultural School in Wroclaw in its structures was the faculty of animal Husbandry, were created on the basis of the former Institute of animal Husbandry. In the first year of activity, the Department of Zootechnicznego consisted of 6 departments: the Department of General animal Husbandry (headed by prof. Tadeusz Olbracht), two departments created in 1952 with the division of the Department of Careful Selection and Feeding of Animals-the Department of General animal Husbandry (run by prof. Tadeusz Konopinski) and the Department of animal nutrition (headed by Professor Zygmunt Rushchits), in a short time transformed into the Department of animal nutrition and animal Science, the Department of Limnology and fisheries (headed by Professor Marian Stendenberg), the Department of Zoology (headed by Dr. Stanislav Listkevich, and since 1954-Professor Stanislav khudoboy) and the Department of Zoohigieny (headed by Professor Mieczyslaw price).

In the following years, the structure of the faculty dynamically developed along with the development of science and education. In 1998 the former name of the faculty was changed to the Faculty of Biology And animal Breeding

 

Direction of preparation

The faculty of Biology And animal Breeding Of the University of nature management conducts the following training courses:

bioinformatics (bachelor's degree)

food safety (engineering)

Master's degree in 1.5 or 2-year (second degree), specialties:

zootechnician:

breeding and use of animals

breeding and use of horses

breeding of domestic animals, and slow living

production of food and counselling on nutrition

biology

environmental biology

human biology

laboratory methods in biology

In addition, the Faculty offers the following postgraduate courses:

horse breeding and equestrian sports

breeding of domestic and exotic animals

scientific foundations of horse training

care and breeding of companion animals

planning and organization of animal husbandry

production of industrial feed, premixes and advice on animal feeding

occupational Safety and Health management

Doctorate (third degree), in the following field[8]:

zootechnician

The faculty has the authority to perform the following academic degrees:

doctor of agricultural Sciences in the field of animal husbandry

PhD in agricultural Sciences in the field of animal science

Currently, the faculty plans to put into operation new areas of the first and then second degree in the following specialties: human biology and cynology
